Hi, My name is Lisa McKinney and I’ve been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since - well let’s just say for quite a while instead of decades. I love to see families, individuals, children and couples. You should know that I’m here to help them help you. I will support you in all possible ways to reach your goals, add just the right amount of professional incentive when it’s needed, and push to get you where you’re going. Don’t worry though, I won’t push you over the edge, and I’ll never leave you hanging over the abyss. I’ll be your constant resource and cheerleader as you make your journey through change. I have always believed that there is no such thing as too much education. I have masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and Family Studies; a BA in Psychology and a degree in Business Administration. I’m currently in pursuit of a certification in Health Coaching. I am experienced with all areas of therapy. My favorite time at work is spent working with clients who are invested in their own change - no matter what issues they face. I believe that good therapy is an evolving partnership which allows the client to do the work for themselves. My therapeutic theme - there is a solution for everything. Now all we have to do is find it.

Are you struggling with transition or life decisions? Are you having trouble being your authentic and best self? Feeling stuck and can't get beyond your past? You've just taken the first step to healing and growth. Together, we can create meaningful goals, find balance and peace of mind, release distress from the past, be present, and passionate about life. I bring a culturally sensitive, compassionate attitude to my practice and use a collaborative approach to create a respectful and safe environment for my clients as they proceed on their unique healing journey. Depending on your concerns and goals, I will blend therapeutic techniques that best support your growth and healing. In doing so, I will draw from both traditional and non-traditional tools, including: Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and mindfulness. I work with premarital couples, expecting and new parents and use an eclectic mix of tools including Gottman's Bringing Baby Home, and Prepare Enrich premarital counseling. I work with clients via secure online video conferencing. I support couples and individuals in transition to build mutual understanding, respect, and trust. Together, we can cultivate the healthy, emotionally intelligent relationship and move from surviving to thriving.
